BROW BAR
The goal is to enhance and work with your natural brow shape. Your brows are shaped by hand, no stencils are used. Your brows are assessed, and personal style and preferences are discussed to create brows you will love.
Brow Shaping - Working with what you have to get the brows where you want them to be. Custom Shaping a brow is more than just putting sugar on and removing hairs. You want to have a brow that is best suited to your face shape and symmetry using the highest quality of tools and products. After going over options for your brows, a combination of trimming if needed, sugaring, tweezing, and shaping is done to turn your brows into the best shape they can be. If desired brows can be filled in with powder and highlighter.
Note: Tweeze only is recommended for clients who use Retinol or Accutane or other products that thin the skin. No sugaring will be able to be done.
Caring for your brows is not just for the ladies, guys need some brow love too, to get perfectly groomed and natural looking brows.
Brow Tint - Give your brows a little extra love with a soft and natural look by adding a tint (brow dye) to your brow shaping. Tinting colours the hair for 2-4 weeks. Perfect for anyone who dyes their hair and needs their brows on the same page, or you are looking to skip the task of filling them in daily. Tinting works best on clients who already have a lot of brow hair to work with.
BROW HENNA - This will achieve a more filled in look without having to use make-up or brow pencil. Brow Henna is a long lasting brow dye that stays on the skin underneath the brows for a few days up to 2 weeks and stays on the hair for 4-6 weeks. Brow Henna penetrates the shaft of the hair follicle and tints the skin leaving long lasting colour. Brow Henna is made up of natural ingredients that are derived from a plant, and helps to nourish and condition the brow. It gives the eyebrows added volume to hairs that are light and sparser, by tinting both the skin and hair giving the appearance of a much fuller brow, by adding warmth and dimension, and a longer lasting effect. Brow Henna is ideal for clients who don't have as much hair in certain areas of the brow shape and for those wanting a fuller look.
Brow Tint or Brow Henna makes your everyday make-up routine easier, and is a great alternative to those who are not ready to commit to microblading.
MICROBLADING
What is Microblading or HDI Embroidery Brow? - Microblading, also known as Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Brows, and semi-permanent brows, is the latest enhancement for fuller and more defined eyebrows. This innovative technique is a 3D semi-permanent eyebrow and less invasive than traditional cosmetic tattooing, and typically lasts 1 to 2 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. Microblading is done by manually depositing pigment into the upper layer of the dermis using a hand tool with sterile micro needles that allow the artist to create the look of real eyebrow hairs by tattooing very fine hair-like and feathered strokes into the skin. This technique is know as semi-permanent make-up because it is designed to fade away with time. Unlike a tattoo, microblading uses pigments instead of inks, and they are deposited much more superficially into the upper dermis. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow, and is excellent for those wanting to enhance what you already have to make the eyebrows look as natural as possible. Microblading is a great solution for over-plucked eyebrows, or those who have naturally very light and thin eyebrows, weak follicles, and want to accentuate the look of eyebrows on their face. Microblading can also be a great solution for people with alopecia or scar covering.
What is Microshading?
It is also performed using a manual hand tool but it uses a tiny round needle instead of a slope needle. This technique is similar to microblading but it creates a fuller and softer powdered effect that resembles eyebrow pencil or powder. It is usually done in combination with microblading and has the effect of ombre eyebrows.
What happens during the procedure?
For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2.5-3 hours. During this session, we will measure and draw an outline of your brow shape that is best suited for you. Once you are satisfied and any adjustments are made, the brow area is then numbed and the pigment color is selected. Once you are satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure.
The client is to come for a follow-up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. This session takes place 4-6 weeks after the initial session, and is required to complete the look of the brows. This session will take approximately 1.5-2 hours.
Are the pigments used safe?
The pigments used are hypoallergenic and come in a variety of colours and are specially formulated with iron oxide, an ingredient safe for the skin and found naturally in the body, reactions to these products are extremely rare. We do not use pigments made from organic ingredients, such as vegetables as they have a high risk of carrying bacteria and causing allergic reactions.
Is it Painful?
The pain level for the procedure will vary from person to person but most consider it to be a mild discomfort to none. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area, and is reapplied during the procedure as required. The feeling has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine. Clients can also take Tylenol before the procedure, but do Not take aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen as they will thin the blood. After the procedure there may be redness and slight swelling in the area, and this is normal.
How long does it last?
Microblading typically lasts 1-2 years depending on skin type (normal,oily,dry), age (youthful/mature), and lifestyle(sun exposure). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: tanning, or the use of products with AHA or Glycolic Acid will fade the brows faster. Color retention will vary for each individual. Iron deficiency will cause pigment to fade as the body will absorb the iron oxide. The pigment colour used can affect as the lighter colours will fade faster. The final results can not be guaranteed as each skin is unique and hold the pigments differently and break down at different rates. At your touch-up appointment we can re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment and make any changes necessary. To maintain the brows looking their best, a touch-up is suggested every 12 months, to keep the brow colour looking fresh, and to ensure the strokes are defined. Since microblading pigments are not implanted as deep into the skin as tattoos , without touch-ups the area will naturally fade.
How long does it take to heal?
The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and the pigment color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the brows will continue to be dark and you may have some scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microblading results. As the brows heal they will lighten up. The brows heal in approximately 7-10 days, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You will notice about the 2 week mark that the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. The true colour will reveal itself once healed. Please remember the healing is a process and takes 30 days to be completely healed, and the final results will be after the touch-up session.
When is the best time to have Microblading/Microshading done?
It is best to have brows done at least 2 weeks before going on a trip where there will be sun exposure. Also, during the first 7-10 days the brows will be going through different stages in the healing process and you may want to plan your appointment around any special events.
Is the Touch-up session necessary?
A touch-up session is necessary after 4-6 weeks. Everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up and need to be refilled, or pigment color may need to be adjusted, or brow thickness and more strokes can be added in. The touch-up session is when we refine your brows to ensure you have the best results. Occasionally some people may require a 2nd touch-up depending on such things as skin type, pigment retention. Note: Touch-up should Not be done earlier than 4 weeks after the intial microblading session as pigment color has not fully settled into the skin, and as well the tissue requires time to completely heal to prevent scar damage. Touch-up is not included in the original price, and is an additional charge of $50

Are you a good candidate for Microblading? We cannot perform/do not recommend the procedure if you:
* Microblading is a safe and reliable procedure and suitable for most people. However, if you have any of the following conditions, please consult with your doctor before attempting this procedure, and bring a doctor's note with you.
*are under the influence of drugs or alcohol;
*have viral infections and/or diseases, are sick, or on antibiotics;
*have a distinctive previous tattoo, a skin disorder, or rash in the brow area;
*If you are on any acne medications or have used Accutane in the past year;
*If you have heart conditions/pace maker/defibrillator, or using heart medications or medications that cause thinning of the blood;
*If you are a hemophiliac;
*Pregnant or nursing;
*If you are Diabetic;
*If you have Epilepsy;
*Pre-existing skin conditions and skin treatments can compromise the effectiveness of microblading. If you have skin that is prone to eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris, and dermatitis, such as your skin is constantly flaking, itching, or aggravated, then chances are your skin is in a constant state of unrest and shedding, and is not suitable for this, and will likely not hold the pigment well. As well conditions like chronic acne and rosacea have skin that causes easy bleeding which can affect the retention of the pigment;
*have skin irritations or psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.);
*Prone to keloid scars (raised, red scars);
*Excessively oily skin and large pores can affect the retention and appearance as well as very dry skin - additional touch-ups would most likely be required;
*Severe acne;
*If you have had an eyebrow hair transplant microblading is not suitable;
*have had an organ transplant;
*If you have an autoimmune disorder such as lupus, HIV, or frontal fibrosing alopecia you will not be a good candidate due to your compromised skin health;
*Have had botox in brow area in the last 2 weeks;
*Have had Fillers in the last 6 weeks;
*Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks;
*Avoid Retin-A 2 weeks before and after;
*Allergies to lidocaine,prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, or epinephrine;
*Iron deficiencies or anemic can affect the pigment retention. Pigment may fade sooner, and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure;
*Chemotherapy or Radiation treatments in the last year;
*Anyone with a serious medical condition would require a physician's note;
*Must be 18 years of age or older.
*Note some of the above conditions may still be suitable on a person to person basis, and can be discussed, but the results can not be guaranteed.
Are there Risks and Complications?
We take all proper precautions for a safe procedure by using sterilized equipment, new needles, and in a sanitized environment. Only disposable tools are used, and a new sterilized packaged needle and hand tool is used for each client and properly disposed of afterwards. The technician has been certified in microblading, blood pathogen training and body modification certification.
If clients follow the pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks or complications.
Although allergic reactions to the pigments are extremely rare. It could be possible for certain individuals. We suggest a pigment patch test for anyone who has high skin sensitivities or are sensitive to:
-topical makeup products;
-gold, silver, and nickel;
-hair dyes.
Patch tests should be performed 5-7 days prior.
What is the Aftercare?
- Please follow these instructions carefully for best results.
-how you take care of the procedure area over the next 7-10 days will determine its healing, color retention, the final appearance and how long the microbladed brows will last.
-Approx 4 hours after the procedure, clean brows using a Q-tip and lightly moisten with distilled water, or cooled down boiled water. Gently wipe away the old healing balm and any lymphatic liquid that may have built up. Lightly pat dry with tissue/paper towel, and using a new Q-tip, re-apply healing balm sparingly to the brows.
- Over the next 7-10 day healing period please apply the aftercare balm, sparingly.(please note the initial healing period is 7-10 days , but it will take 30 days for the procedure area to fully heal) If no aftercare balm, Coconut oil can be used and grapeseed oil(for oily skin) Always apply aftercare with a clean Q-tip (not hands) to reduce the risk of infection. Only a small amount is required, do not smother the brows. But never let the procedure area feel tight or completrly dry. Use a damp cotton pad to gently pat away any excess balm. Use the aftercare balm for the 7-10 day healing period or until all flaking and peeling has halted and skin is healed. Note: if your skin is very oily, only a limited amount of the aftercare balms/oils is required.
-You may experience swelling that can be managed with soft gel ice packs. Placed chilled gel ice packs (in refrigerator only), and place in a plastic bag before applying to protect the microbladed are from any moisture.
-Avoid showering for the first 24 hours (besides the rinse for brows after 4 hours) After the 24 hour time has passed, when showering or bathing during the healing period apply a thick layer of aftercare balm to create a barrier and avoid putting the procedure area directly in the water stream, and avoid soaps and creams on microbladed area during the healing period. When cleaning the face make sure to avoid the brows and clean around it. After showering gently remove excess balm with wet cotton pad and gently pat dry with a paper towel. Re-apply light amount of after care balm with a clean Q-tip.
-Keep brows dry for first 7-10 days until healed.
-Avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin the blood for 24 hours.
-Avoid using makeup on or around the procedure area during the healing process. If makeup touches the procedure area it can increase the risk of an infection and also may mix with the pigment to alter the colour. After the healing period you are welcome to use makeup.
-Do NOT pick flaking or scabing. It is normal as the skin heals that you may experience flaking and/or scabing, and the skin may be itchy. Picking or peeling at the procedure area may cause loss of pigment and scarring.
-If possible sleep on your back during the healing process, and avoid sleeping on your side or stomach.
-Refrain from touching the procedure area, except when applying aftercare balm. Some pigment may rub off so take precautions to protect good linens and towels.
-Pools, saunas, hot yoga, tanning, excess sweating, and working out, and facials should be avoided during the healing period. Botox should be avoided 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following procedure. Avoid laser treatments around the procedure area as there is a risk of altering the colour and lightening the pigment.
-Avoid skin creams, face scrubs, and products containing Retin-A, AHA or any kind of skin peel. These may not be used prior or 2 weeks post procedure as they will fade and possibly distort the procedure area.
-After the healing process, applying sunblock is recommended to protect from fading or discolouring. (SPF 50 is recommended)
-Similar to traditional tattoos, it is normal to experience some loss of pigment during the healing period. The pigment is expected to be darker for the first 3-5 days after your appointment, so don't panic. They will lighten and change every day during the healing period. After the initial healing and once any flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will cover the area making it seem like the tattooed area has disappeared. Within 1-2 weeks, the pigment will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.
-After the procedure area heals, a touch-up appointment is required. Touch-up is done 4-6 weeks after the inital appointment. The brows and process are not complete without it.
What if I do not like the results?
As with all cosmetic procedures, you should not make the choice lightly. We recommend and encourage clients to do their research, understand the procedure, and compare different artists work when making a decision. We will do our best to give you the best brow for you and to achieve an even appearance. Uneven appearance, pigment discolorations, and color correction can all be fixed during the touch-up session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch-ups are done.

LASH EXTENSIONS - (Note: presently not accepting new clients for lash extensions)
Eyelash Extensions have become one of the most popular beauty enhancements on the market. At Body Sugaring Works we offer Lashforever Canada's unique and exclusive blend of silk and mink lashes. This superior collection of custom blend lashes and Medical Grade A adhesive has met world-wide health regulation approvals and is 100% safe for eyes and natural lashes.
Classic Lash Extension Full Set is offered and there is no lash count, and extensions are placed on all suitable lashes.
For fills 50% of your lashes must be retained for it to be considered a Fill. If set was done elsewhere, a consult is required and there is no guarantee the fill can be done here.
How long do they last? When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of you eyelashes which is 8-12 weeks, but because lashes can be on different cycles fills are required every 2-3 weeks to keep the appearance of full lashes and the extensions looking their best.
How long will the appointment take? Allow up to 2.5-3 hours for the initial application of lash extension (this includes forms being filled and before and after pics) You will lay comfortably with eyes closed (you can even take a lash nap), and an under eye gel pad is placed to cover the lower lashes, and then the extensions are applied to each suitable individual lash.
Do Extensions ruin Natural lashes? This is a myth as Lash extensions are safe and do not ruin the health of your own lashes if applied correctly and properly. Also be sure not to rub your eyes or pull on the extensions as this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.
